Becoming a sponsor of Business Respect

Business Respect - the email newsletter on CSR - has been serving audiences interested in aspects of corporate social responsibility since April 2001. Having run for six and a half years with an active policy of declining offers of sponsorship or advertising, we have now decided to change this to enable the future development and quality of the newsletter.

The newsletter gives access to an audience of individuals actively engaged in, or interested in, issues around corporate social responsibility. The up to date subscriber numbers is 10200.

Business Respect may accept no more than four 1-year sponsorships at a time.

What profile do sponsors get?

  • A text-based recognition on the main index page of the newsletter on the website - this page is viewed over 1000 times per month
  • Four lines of text, in the standard formatting of the newsletter, in each newsletter published during the year (26 editions). The sponsors' messages appear near the top of the newsletter, between the table of contents and the beginning of the actual content.

The web link given will be for a page on the mallenbaker.net website which will immediately and automatically forward the visitor to your website. Using this mechanism enables us to send you a report on the number of times the links for your ads were followed during the year both from the web page and from email - a figure which you can verify with reference to your own web log reports.

A 1 year sponsorship is agreed on the assumption of regular fortnightly editions - a total of 26 issues. If for reasons out of our control, or due to the timing of key public holidays such as Christmas, an edition is skipped we guarantee that the sponsorship will continue to apply until the 26th issue, unless the sponsor requests otherwise.

Sponsorships are gratefully accepted from any organisation that provides potential value to the broader CSR community. These may be networks drawing from the sort of interested audience Business Respect serves, or companies providing services, publications, products or regular events on CSR.

Sponsorships are generally not accepted by corporations seeking to advertise their CSR credentials, or initiatives unrelated to the themes around CSR. We also won't take sponsorships from organisations hostile to the concept of CSR, or promoting a party political or religious affiliation. We reserve the right to turn down sponsorships from organisations whose support might  bring the newsletter into disrepute with its readership, and our judgement on who fits that description is pretty much final.

What sponsorships do not offer

We are unable to offer panel advertising or images of any kind. We aim to preserve the prominence for the reader of the content of the newsletter, and believe too many visual additions detract from this.

In addition, articles and commentary, and the choice of news stories featured in the newsletter are produced within a policy of strict editorial independence. We have a general policy of positive encouragement and support to businesses finding their way through the world of CSR - but we recommend that you review recent issues, and decide whether the newsletter's editorial approach is likely to be a problem for you.

Sponsorship rates

1 year sponsorship is offered at a flat rate of 3,500 UK pounds for the year. This resource helps us to provide the dedicated focus that will support the quality and regularity of the newsletter to ensure best value to the sponsors through the association.

Sponsorships are taken from a maximum of four organisations at any one time. The limit will be reviewed periodically, but there is no ability to negotiate additional sponsorships for higher rates or anything like that. It is purely first come, first served.

If you would like profile with the Business Respect readership but it is not appropriate to think in terms of a full year sponsorship, there are also rates for individual ads.

Thank you

Thank you for your interest in supporting Business Respect. If you would like to pursue any of the opportunities described above, please contact us at: mallen@mallenbaker.net
