Contributing to Business Respect
The email newsletter Business Respect is sent out every two weeks, and includes the following:
- Topical news stories that are connected to the role of business in society and corporate social responsibility issues
- Links to topical features on other sites that are of interest
- One or two opinion articles focusing on a specific issue
- Links to the blog on this website
Although I do not generally commission people for additional content for the newsletter, other material has been used from time to time and can be considered, provided it meets certain criteria.
- It should fit in with the basic philosophy and editorial position of the newsletter - pro-business, pro-responsibility. All companies engaging in legal business both can create a vision of social responsibility for their sector, and should seek to do so in a way that is sustainable and beneficial to their business.
- Suggestions for news stories: I do not generally use corporate press releases except on the rather rare occasion when the releases genuinely describe something that has news value. Who decides what does or doesn't have news value? Me, obvioulsy. Have a quick browse of the stories that I cover to get a sense of what I use, and please don't send me PR releases about a community programme, or a donation, or the fact that your company has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. There are other places that will carry these sorts of releases.
- If you would like to suggest that the newsletter carries an article authored by you, I would advise that you contact me in advance with the idea you of what you would like to contribute, so we can discuss it. I rarely carry such articles, so it really is essential to discuss it first. I never carry articles that are already being published elsewhere, or which are to be touted for publication elsewhere.
- I have now started to carry advertising in the newsletter (see separate page for rates) but do not carry 'advertorial' or write sponsored articles or blog posts.
If you would like to discuss contributing to the newsletter further, please email me with your idea, and thanks for your interest.
