The Committee of Enquiry - A new vision for businessThe Committee of Enquiry was convened by Forum for the Future, Business in the Community and the New Academy of Business. The main purpose of the Enquiry was to produce a set of public policy recommendations for the UK Government to promote corporate social responsibility. It was organised under eight headings, covering policy options, consumers, employees, shareholders, supply chain alliances, communities, environmental sustainability, and values, ethics and accountability. Recommendations generated from these themes cover: the stakeholder company, learning, business ethics, environmental sustainability, community investment, the working environment, encouraging partnerships, strengthening the supply chain, consumers and reporting. The report was published in November 1999. Forum for the Future is a UK based charity with a mission to accelerate the building of a sustainable way of life through a solutions-oriented approach. The New Academy of Business is an international education and research organisation that aims to provide business with an enhanced capacity to respond to social, environmental and ethical challenges. ==== This page is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility site of Mallen Baker. It is constantly updated with analysis and opinion pieces on different aspects of CSR - with a mostly international focus, with some particular interests on the UK. Initiatives such as the Committee of Inquiry will be covered, and updated, periodically on the site, and in the free CSR fortnightly email newsletter associated with the site, Business Respect. The easiest way to keep in touch is to subscribe. |
